Capricorn holds the Key
Annually planets make different fomations and create tests and blocks for us to deal with. This year is no different. But we are beginning 2009 on a somber note with so many problems in the world- financial, personal, wars, terrorism. Since 2006, many planets has passed through crucial gandanta degrees- Saturn, Mars and Ketu through the Cancer Leo Gandanta, Jupiter through the Scorpio Sagittarius Gandanta plus the toxic kal sarpa yoga of 2008 which unsettled the world with the major crisis that arose. But it is not all negative news. We got Obama as the New US President. Within the chaos a new dawn is rising and Jupiter in Capricorn will have the responsibility to stabalise the world and make for new foundations on which we can stand tall.

Rashis rather than planets are playing the most important role for the coming year. Capricorn or Makara Rashi. This is where the planets gather, the eclipses take place, Jupiter gets debilitated and Mars become exalted. Rahu continues its mystical journey. So much is happening in Capricorn that we must focus on this to see what is the message.
Capricorn is known as Makara or crocodile in Sanskrit. This is the sign where our past karma needs to be dealt with. On a personal level we see our past deeds as the ugliness of the crocodile and therefore decide to make amends with our past life, so that we carry lesser burdens into the future. Makara is where the soul voluntarily becomes austere and responsible. This is not about fear and anxiety, but patience and forebearance. Wherever Capricorn is in your chart, that area will be most effected. Keeping the rules of Jyotish, if Capricorn is either a kendra or a trikona, then expect good things whereas if it is rules your dusthana houses- there can be many changes. In deciding how you will be able to deal with this- all depends on what Dasha you are in as wel. Transits itself do not tell the whole story. Gemini lagna or Moon may find this most challenging as Capricorn is in their 8th house. They must be already going through some big transitions. It is a good idea to do remedial measures. Aquarius have Capricorn in their 12th house- the house of expenses and foreign travel. All signs will feel some pressure too. United Kingdon has Moon in Gemini- so they may be going through big changes. I will be adding to this information in my monthly reports.
The Lord of Capricorn is Saturn. Saturn is in Leo and in the 8th sign/ house from Capricorn. 8th house usually deals with major transofrmations. The focus on Capricorn and Leo as the two major players of 2009 shows the the Ego of Leo leaders and Heads will need to be cut down as Saturn exercises his power. Saturn wants everyone to pay for the excesses of the previous years. Till Saturn moves into Virgo in September 2009- you will not se the process of change and transformation the world is going through completed. Saturn in Virgo from9th September 09 will be in the 9th house from Capricon. It will be in the friend's house and comfortable. This is when the productive and expansive cycle of Saturn will begin. So be patient, remain cautious, don't give into your fears, keep your ego in check.Tthis is the best way to deal with Saturn in Leo and its influence on Capricorn.
The eclipse of 26 January is in Capricorn. It is an eclipse immediately after Obama takes office. He is Capricorn lagna - so this year there will be lots of focus on him with so many planets there. He needs to watch his step too as Saturn continues to be in the 8th house.
The major coming together and the most challenging period will be from 7 to 15 February when Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Sun, Moon, Mercury all gather in Capricorn. Usually event do not happen on the day of the conjunction but these are omens or indications to be careful for the future. Rahu Jupiter continue their connection for most of 2009. Saturn in Leo is in the 8th house from this conjunction- therefore he continue to transform.

It is very important to pacify Saturn during the year. Chanting the Maha Mritunjaya mantra regularly would be a good option. Giving donations and feeding the poor is another good remedy. Fasting on Saturday and praying to Shiva and Hanuman are others. The Guru Chandala Yoga of Jupiter and Rahu in Capricorn has already exposed a major scandal of John Madoff where billions have been lost in a Ponzi scheme. Those following Jyotish should know that when the planets were negative, as they were for the last few years- then a scheme that appears too good to be true is very dicey and can have negative results. When I highlight negative planetary connections- one has to be wary of the good oppurtunities that are coming our way- they may not be as good as they appear.
I have be dealing with Venus's long exaltation from Feb to May, Mars Saturn opposition in April, Jupiters short dip into Aquarius from May to September, Saturn's change of sign in September Mars Ketu conjunction in October and many other planetary aspects over the coming months- so continue to watch this space.
